Q: How shall you live your life?
A: SB5 Follow Your Highest Excitement
Follow your passion and highest excitement,
to the best of your ability until you can take it no further,
with zero insistence on the outcome,
and remain in a positive state regardless of what happens.
Freedom, expansion, and joy…
You came for freedom, expansion, and joy.
That’s why you projected a portion of your consciousness into your physical body in this space time reality.
You came to be free, to roam, explore, experience, to grow and better understand your place in creation.
The payoff of freedom and expansion is the sensation of joy that is available to you in all its variations.
Joy can range from a feeling of tranquility, peace, and satisfaction, through to excitement, bliss, and ecstasy, up to full-on rapture, transcendence, and cyclic evaporation from physical into spiritual and condensation back into physical.
These transformations and changes in states of consciousness may be ecstatic and blissful, sharp, and painful, or sublime, but you came to experience them all.
You came for the full, rich complement and vast gamutof experiences and sensations.
You came for beauty…
And you came for beauty.
You came to experience BEAUTY, you came to be beauty, to create beauty, and to share beauty.
It is through beauty experienced, created, and shared with others that more of it is reflected to you. Sharing and co-experiencing is like a mirror reflecting, concentrating, and focusing more of the beauty radiating from you, back into your experience to heighten, intensify and amplify your perception of it.
Beauty tuning forks…
Why do you love your kids and your grand-kids so much?
Is it because they represent beauty?
Seeing and experiencing their beauty spawns a resonance in your core that reminds you of your own beauty and enables you to better experience it within yourself.
They are like tuning forks or a pitch pipe reminding you of the sound and frequency of beauty.
They remind you of the beauty, joy, and satisfaction not just within yourself, but within the world that you may have forgotten.
Finding beauty & joy’s True North…
And what leads you to more of these experiences of freedom, expansion, and joy?
You are led there by Following your Highest Excitement.
Excitement is your compass needle pointing to the True North of your reason for being here.
It points you to what is most relevant, meaningful, satisfying, joyful and beautiful. It points to that which echoes, resonates, and reminds you of who you really are.
Following your highest excitement is the key to being who you came here to be, and experiencing what you came to experience.
It is the answer to the question
of why you exist.
THAT is why you are here, and that is why it is so important to…
Follow your highest excitement, be free, expand, and be joyful.
Micro and macro applications…
Following your highest excitement has both micro and macro applications.
You can apply it to the big choices in your life such as your choice of spouse or career, as well as small choices such as what to do in the next “now” moment.
Check in with your internal guidance system regularly to see which option, alternative or choice draws you the most.
Invite your intuition, inner voice, and higher self to survey the options before you and assess each’s appeal and share that perspective with your physical mind.
Sparkle and blink…
Check which option…
- sparkles the most,
- which calls to you,
- and what your “blink” reaction to each is.
- which calls to you,
If you had to choose one option in this instant,
with no time for logic, internal debate, or rational argument, which would it be?
Use the “blink” process to get past prior programming, and to divine the ESSENCE of each option’s appeal.
Imaginary coin toss…
Imagine each of the two options before you placed on the two faces of a coin: one on the heads side and the other on the tails side.
Now imagine tossing the coin in the air and then looking to see which side is facing upwards.
Which way would you like it to land?
- Which side would you be happier to see?
- Which side would elicit relief and which side anxiety?
Live your passion...
Living your passion means many of the following statements.
- Let your excitement guide and orient you in every moment…
- Follow your internal compass…
- Engage your intuition…
- Follow your internal compass…
- Listen to your heart and your gut, as well as your intellect…
- Find satisfaction, meaning, joy and beauty everywhere…
- Prioritize freedom, expansion, and joy.
- Find satisfaction, meaning, joy and beauty everywhere…
Seems obvious… so why not do it?
Following your highest excitement seems reasonable and obvious. What would you rather do, follow your lowest excitement? Do what you hate, rather than what you love?
If you spied your favourite food at a buffet, wouldn’t you reach out and put a big helping of it on your plate, rather than load up on the foods you don’t like?
Lots of “pat” sayings…
“Follow your Highest Excitement”
…seems like other pat sayings
we’ve heard, like…
“Follow Your Bliss”,
“Do What You Love”,
“Don’t worry, be happy”,
“Do unto Others as You Would Have Them Do unto You”,
“Be the Change You Want to See in the World.”
It seems we have enough good advice and wisdom to all be happy and thriving, and living the life of our dreams, so why aren’t we all doing so already?
Courage and belief…
In two words… Courage and Belief.
Humans are herd animals whose favourite game is ‘Follow the Leader’.
People behave in the way they see other people behaving, to be accepted as part of the herd.
They want to be included in the group, be liked, considered “normal” & feel safe.
The easiest way to accomplish this is to do what everyone else is…
- doing,
- saying,
- and believing,
- saying,
…to conform and blend in.
Your ordinary life awaits…
...if you want it…
If you’re content to have an ordinary life, you’re in luck, that lifepath has already been mapped out for you.
- Just do what you’re told,
- follow what everyone else is doing,
- believe what they believe,
- consume what they consume,
- believe what they believe,
- follow what everyone else is doing,
…and live and die just like them and generations before.
You are free to have an ordinary life full of chores and servitude
just as others have lived for thousands of years.
If you are satisfied with this, if this is all you can imagine, if this is all you think you are capable or deserving of, or it is more important to feel safe and accepted than happy or free, then have at it.
Happy, free, ...and conventional…
Perhaps you already feel happy and free living a conventional life. If so, this is great for you. Enjoy that life.
Seriously, enjoy it. In a sense, you are very fortunate.
You may be happier living that life than those who feel a conventional life doesn’t fit them. They may be miserable trying to blend in and be content thinking, dreaming, believing, and living within the confines of a conventional life.
Beyond conventional...
However, if you have read this far into this website…
…you are probably one of those…
…looking for something more
than just a conventional life.
You may have tried being “normal,” living a “normal” life and just couldn’t do it.
You may have felt something was missing, that you weren’t being true to who you really are, and why you are here, and what you are capable of.
You may sense there is more out there for you if you could only find it.
It can be agony trying to live a lie, trying to blend in, be someone you’re not, be fake, disingenuous, and dishonest.
It’s exhausting.
It’s unnatural to hold back parts of yourself, just to be accepted, not draw unwanted attention, be shunned, excluded, cast out, or tagged with a label you don’t want to bear.
Not sharing the real you denies others of who you really are, and robs you of receiving their embrace of your true self.
It shortchanges both of you of what’s real and could be.
- Why would anyone do this to themselves?
- Why would anyone pose as a fake doll rather than their true self? Just to be accepted even if what is being accepted is a lie?
Why limit yourself and what COULD be,
…in exchange for what you think SHOULD be?
Swimming against the current…
It takes courage and energy to NOT comply.
It takes courage and belief in yourself to…
- not follow the crowd,
- take a different path,
- not blend in,
- take a different path,
- swim against the current,
- not do what is expected and considered proper
…IF you don’t agree with it.
It takes courage to show the real you, and what you want, and are prepared to do to get it.
You may be told...
- “You’re making a big mistake.”
- “You can’t do that.”
- “Here’s all the reasons why, and everything that could go wrong.”
- “You can’t do that.”
Others may say...
- “I’ll tell you what you SHOULD do.”
- “I’ll share my wisdom” …as a parent, guidance counsellor, schoolteacher, family member, friend, or religious leader…
- “Trust me, I know what’s best for you and what will lead to your happiness and wellbeing.”
Perhaps what they really mean is…
- “Let me crow about all the reasons I was afraid myself”,
- “I can’t bear to watch another do what I shrunk from doing, and being, myself.”
- “If I had to limit myself and give up on my dreams for the sake of practicality, so should you.”
- “I played it safe and so should you.”
- “I stayed locked in the prison of fear and conformity, so must you.”
Learn from those who succeeded...
Don’t follow advice from those who failed, or who never tried. Instead, be inspired by those who succeeded doing the type of thing you seek to do.
The fearful and cautious tell all the reasons they used to hold themselves back, shrink and hide from life.
The courageous and successful encourage and inspire us to believe in ourselves, to trust our abilities to overcome challenges, and to take risks to fully live and succeed.
Ignore the cowardly and
Be inspired by the brave.
No one primarily concerned
with being safe, conventional,
popular, or accepted
ever excelled at significantly improving
themselves, their condition, or the world.
The ordinary follow well-worn paths tread by the masses. The extraordinary blaze their own trail through challenge and adventure to new heights, vistas, and destinations.
Which do you aspire to be?
Be more committed to your dreams and happiness
than to others’ approval and acceptance.
Blazing your own trail means believing in yourself and your abilities more than in the bogeymen the conventional and cowardly use to scare you or shut you down.
The naysayers may truly be concerned for your wellbeing, and want what they think is best for you, but it’s your life to live.
A parent cannot live their child’s life for them. They can’t protect them from every hardship, solve every problem, or heal every scrape, and it’s not fair to deny them their choices, experiences, and growth. They have their life to live, and you have yours.
Follow your highest excitement and live yours fully, bravely, boldly and confidently.
Where do you start?
Remember your innate worth and power. Keep sight of who you are and why you’re here. Let every choice be an indication of what you believe, and what you value.
Find your areas of Genius...
- Identify your passions, those things you love to do, those things you cannot, NOT do, that call to you, and that you feel compelled to do, and you are a natural at..
- Seek those areas…where you lose perception of time, you become brilliant and superconductive and quality content flows effortlessly, where progress is smooth and the process feels immensely satisfying; which you would do solely for the sheer joy and exhilaration of the experience.
- Find your way to make your own unique contribution, in your own way as a gift to the world as an expression of appreciation for all the abundance you receive in your life.
- These are your areas of genius and super conductance where things happen fast easy and with great result and feel great to you when you do them.
Let your passion lead you to cooperative components
and synchronicity that accelerate and propel you along your path.
Cultivate childlike curiosity,
laughter & appreciation…
- Preserve the wonder of the magnificence of the world around you.
- Have no attachment to outcome. Switch direction as you feel inspired.
- Maintain innocence and trust in the benevolence of the world.
- Flow with the events of the day as they play out.
- See the essence of the child in everyone else. Be colourblind and accept others for who they are, even if different than you.
- Make it a priority to have fun and to celebrate what you prefer.
Remain willing to play and be silly.
Release timeline expectations…
It’s easy and even natural to create expectations of what you would like to accomplish in a day, week, or year, and be disappointed, harsh, and critical of yourself for not accomplishing everything you wanted to.
Understand that nothing is going wrong and your attachment to a timeline doesn’t serve you. Perhaps the cooperative components aren’t ready yet, or the timing isn’t right.
If it didn’t happen today, it didn’t need to.
Because we consider it failure for not accomplishing what we expected and set out to do, being rigid in our schedules can rob us of opportunities that present throughout our day and our lives.
We may decline something
because it is not in our plans,
and miss an opportunity
that is rare or never recurring.
Be present for what shows up…
- When your child is ready to play,
- when your teenager wants to spend time with you,
- when your elderly parent asks for your help,
- when the stranger needs your assistance,
…give yourself permission
…to deviate from your schedule, agenda, or expectations of how the day is to play out.
Appreciate these gems of opportunity to connect, share, and live.
Life flows at its own pace...
You cannot demand to see a shooting star or a sunset, or the appearance of a deer in the woods.
You must be present and receptive of these experiences when they occur.
Instead of being a prisoner of your expectations
and your agenda…
Flow with life’s currents and opportunities.
Does it always work out?
This depends entirely on your perspective.
Does it always work out as you had imagined and hoped?
Possibly not… not exactly as expected.
It may work out even better than hoped, that’s what we would like, but chances are the experiences and challenges will be different than expected, but will still be what’s best for our growth.
It may APPEAR the project did not turn out as wanted, or ended up being what you consider a failure, but looking back you may see that succeeding at it would have limited you in the long run.
You may have become too comfortable and complacent and never sought growth beyond that thing.
That “failure” may have expanded your understanding of yourself, of what you truly want, and equipped you to pursue it.
It may have clarified your vision and galvanized your resolve. It may have fortified and steeled you, made you more robust and confident in your abilities to overcome challenges, and to maintain your balance and perspective throughout.
Course corrections...
It may have reordered your life priorities, caused you to change direction and set a new course.
Nothing is a failure if you declare it to be a victory in clarifying your wants and desires and expanding your ability to pursue them.
Failure and success are entirely subjective based on YOUR assessment of them… not another’s.
Who cares if “they” wring their hands, or scoff, or laugh, or say “I told you so” if you are now clearer and closer to what you truly want, as a result?
Every “failure” can be just one more step on the road to success.
The only failure is giving up
on yourself...
It is fine to “give up” on a dream, provided you establish a new one.
You may see that your earlier dream is not what you truly want, so you refine and upgrade your dream based on this newfound clarity and understanding.
Refinement and evolution of dreams are great.
Just because something was once a dream doesn’t mean it must remain so or be your only dream.
Dreams can expand, multiply and evolve as you do.
Perhaps your earlier dream was slightly off target, or lacked some elements you want included, or was too small given what you now know yourself to be capable and deserving of.
Declare benefit from everything
that happens...
Regardless of how it unfolded…
Expect, demand, and declare benefit from everything that happens…
“This too, shall serve me!”
- Remember that circumstances don’t matter, only state of being matters…
- Appreciate, and find benefit in, ALL experiences…
- Remember that things are always working out for you…
- Flow like water…
- Look at the bigger picture…
The bigger you dream...
the higher you will achieve...
Some dreams take time.
The gestation time for a human is greater than that for a fruit fly because humans are far more complex and capable creatures.
Expect your dreams to morph, expand, clarify, and refocus themselves.
Commit to enjoy the process throughout.
If everything was achieved and completed today, what would be left to enjoy tomorrow?
Make one of your dreams to enjoy the process of creating your dreams.
Some of the best days…
… Are the ones you didn’t see coming, but which unfolded magically as you allowed them to.
This is being present, flexible, and living in the moment.
Follow your highest excitement in each moment,
to the best of your ability
until you can take it no further,
with zero insistence on the path, or the timing, or the outcome,
and remain in a positive state throughout.
Putting it in practice…
In your day and in your life, give yourself permission to follow your highest excitement.
